History:
Cordelia came from wealth. During her high school years she was the cream of the crop. Rich, beautiful, and everything someone of her status should have been. She was cheerleader, Queen C, and ran Sunnydale High like no other. This continued until her senior year when her father made a "small" mistake and didn't bother to file his taxes for over a decade. Combining this with her "stupid mistake" of dating one unpopular Xander Harris, she fell far from her pedestal. Within months Cordy was riches to rags, with no more money to her name than the poorest in Sunnydale.
Too many cruel words had been tossed in the way of the Scooby gang and with no one left to turn to, Cordelia abandoned Sunnydale for Los Angeles. It was time for a fresh start and a new life. Unfortunately for Cordelia, her life was no better in LA. She couldn't make that big break into acting and by the time she and her old acquaintance Angel crossed paths, Cordy was desperate. After he saved her (with the help of a half-demon by the name of Doyle), she concocted a plan and thus Angel Investigations was born.
Until Doyle's death, he led the team via visions and guided Angel to the bad guys. Cordelia, meanwhile, tagged along, poorly answered phones, and generally did little more than provide moral support and lacking receptionist skills. This all changed on the day that Doyle sacrificed himself. In one passionate final kiss he passed his powerful gift of visions on to Cordelia. She has borne them ever since, with the stress taking its toll daily.
In time Wesley and Gunn joined the team, but nothing could truly fill Doyle's space. Unbeknown to the rest of the team, his visions were killing human Cordelia.
Though the pain was worsening each day, Cordelia kept that information to herself. Through the following months, including her brief stay in Pylea, Cordelia would suffer brain deterioration. Deciding, ultimately, that the visions are her responsibility to bear she ends up declining the chance to live as a celebrity and through the work of a demon named Skip instead becomes half-demon herself to be able to withstand the visions.
In time Cordelia finds feelings developing for Angel. She plans to tell him as much on the fated night that Skip returns to show Cordelia her “destiny” as a higher being. She accepts, seemingly for the good of all mankind. It turns out though, Skip is no nice demon. Everything including her return to Earth was a set-up for Cordelia’s possession and ultimately giving birth to an unscrupulous higher being, Jasmine.
Cordelia falls into a coma shortly after, never to awaken. She returns to the team briefly, many months down the line, in order to give Angel one final piece of guidance. As she departs his office her body in the medical ward dies, her soul leaving earth. Seemingly permanently.
Powers/Mutations:
Half-demon, visions from the Powers That Be – I have chosen to exclude her various “higher being” talents as all the while she’d been possessed by Jasmine. If she came back, I would suspect she would be returned as the life-form she had in the coma, half-demon with the absence of Jasmine’s presence. I can alter this as the mods may like.
